The Space Technology Association at Rutgers (STAR) aims to build a satellite radio ground station as part of our mission to develop a student-built Cube Satellite. This ground station antenna would serve as an excellent educational opportunity for students to learn about radio communication architecture, design, and operation— particularly in space applications. As STAR approaches the next cycle of proposal applications with various NASA and Air Force programs, developing a satellite communication system will demonstrate our ability to understand a crucial element of space systems engineering. Additionally, this ground station will open up a variety of projects including tracking existing CubeSats and high altitude balloon communication testing.
